We're Back!

I wasn't expecting myself to take 9 days to post but sometimes life gets in the way, yeah?

Anyway, I'm back and boy I didn't miss... anything. The Mythos is so depressingly vacant at the moment that it's absolutely heart-wrenching.

Other than that, what did I do while I was away? Well, my birthday was the 12th, so that was fun! I got to spend time with my friends and family. It was good times with good peeps!

The Browns had their first game of the season in Baltimore and lost horrifically 6-38. Baker Mayfield looked nervous, OBJ was frustrated, and our offense COULD NOT get anything going. However, tonight. Tonight was a completely different story! Our home opener was tonight against Cincinnati and we won 35-30 and we actually looked good!

Oh, and the Indians snapped a 7 game losing streak. That is also a plus.

On a more serious note, I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping recently and it's starting to affect my mood. I've been a bit... I don't know, depressed? Or angry... The point is it hasn't been fun. I'll update you guys if it changes in anyway.

Anyway, that's about it for now. I'll catch you all on the flip!

Core Theory

So, I was going to type this up and post it yesterday but I just ended up not feeling like it. Plus there's so much to know about today's subject that I had to make sure I had found everything I needed. It wasn't easy, but I managed to compile everything last night soooooo today we are going to be talking about the Core Theory.

I mentioned this in my first post and I thought that Core Theory would be a great topic of discussion because of how influential it was. And believe me it was VERY influential.

Core Theory was created and proposed by Robert of White Elephants and placed a large emphasis on the Tulpa Effect. This was theory was key in establishing the belief the Slendy could be killed, or at least defeated. The Theory posited that through the Tulpa Effect, we manifested the Slender Man into existence, but we cannot just manifest him out of existence. Robert instead believed that we could shift our mental image of the Slender Man in order to make him weaker.

Robert believed that the way to go about this was to use a story as a framing device and so he began distributing Titles to numerous bloggers (more on this below). Once all the roles had been filled, the story would begin to write itself. The important Titles were as follows: Sage, Mystic, Hermit, Guardian, Warrior, and Hero.

Concerning the Sages, Robert created the Rule of Three (Sword, Shroud, Shield). The idea was that the first Sage would research how to fight the Slender Man (Sword), the second Sage would research how to defend against the Slender Man (Shield), and the third Sage was to research the properties of the Slender Man (Shroud). These first three Sages were:
  • Robert (of the aforementioned White Elephants)
  • Jay (of Anomalous Data)
  • Shaun (of Testing 1,2,3 and Risk Death)

Robert became Guardian, Jay was killed, and Shaun was Hallowed (then retitled Guide.. it's confusing. You can see for yourself below). Leading Robert to name the second Sages:

  • Zero (of A Hint of Serendipity, The Last Refuge of A Dangerous Man, Eight Years Later)
  • Amelia (of Road to the Heavens

  •  Maduin (of A Really Bad Joke)

Amelia was the only one of the second Sages to actually go on the run. She disappeared and is rumored to have possibly taken part of the failed Solstice battle. Zero supposedly perished, and Maduin had redistributed the titles to a third group of Sages:

  • Hakurei Ryu (of I Am Stardust)
  • AmalgamationSage (of Records of an Impossibility)
  • Kay (of A Wand and A Prayer)

These three were the last Sages and never redistributed their titles. Robert introduced the Path of Black Leaves and the concept of defeating the Slender Man on the Winter Solstice, Jay introduced the concept of freeing Proxies by using chemically induced amnesia, and Shaun introduced the concept of hiding in crawlspaces. Zero would expand further on the Winter Solstice, asking fellow bloggers to write a brief story of them defeating the Slender Man.

The other roles were filled by the following:

  • Zeke Strahm(Mystic)
  • M(Hermit)

Robert became the Guardian. The Warrior and Hero titles were never filled (it was implied that Zeke filled the role of Warrior prior to becoming the Mystic, the Hero is speculated to be Reach).

The death of the Core Theory came when the proxy Redlight hijacked White Elephants and debunked Robert's claim that he was waiting in the Path for the Hero to come. Robert was in fact lying in a service building, delusional. Rob lost his credibility and most involved in the Core Theory abandoned their titles.

Now, in my own humble opinion, the Core Theory was whack from the start. Nothing can stop the Slender Man because the He is not from here. He is a monster. And even though Robert insists it, not all monsters bleed.

Ramblings and Such

So today was... interesting, to say the least. I'm not a big fan of surprises. I hate them, actually. A lot. BUT, I'll make an exception. A friend of mine came in from Chicago (I prefer Flavortown, but I digress) and I wasn't really expecting to see them after so long. I used to take family trips to Columbus when I was younger to visit an uncle that lived down there. Was never really a big fan of Columbus that much, either. I put up with the place because I like the Blue Jackets, Crew, and Buckeyes (oh, and my family but ya know). Other than that I root for Cleveland sports. Currently extremely hyped for the Browns game this Sunday, and the Indians are looking like they're gonna make the playoffs, Cavaliers are still developing (in a good way)-

Wow, okay. I'm sorry I just went on a rant about my favorite sports teams, but now you know some trivial things about me.

Anyway, continuing on what I was originally saying, my cousins and I had a friend group down in Columbus. Some of them moved to different cities (the friend I'm particularly talked about moved to Chicago for college and still lives there today) and some of them are dead or locked up. I should clarify that Slender Man did not kill my friends, it was mostly drugs and the like. I do not give anyone permission to judge my friends, we all have demons. And from a Catholic perspective, talking ill about the dead is a dick move. Don't be a dick.

We reminisced over some drinks at my place and it felt really good. I've missed them.

Anyway, I'm pretty much caught up on Those Strange Frontiers and I gotta say, I really like that Min character. She's a bad-ass assassin type character (her contact page describes her as a bodyguard, which is always cool. Honestly reminds me of Fizzbomb and Ava from back in the glory days!

Sitting by and waiting for Zero to post again, does anyone know what caused the resurgence in the blogs after like... what? 8 years? I thought the Mythos was pretty much dead to be honest. It's nice to see it still has pulse, albeit faint. Also waiting for DarkHarvest but, we'll see.

Anyway, I'm gonna head out. Fuck you, Adam Rosner.

Introduction

Names Blooms everybody!

I think we all know why I started this blog. No, it's not because I'm being stalked by the Slender Man (yes, I'm aware of the other blogs and the YT channels). It's because I want to talk about it. The Mythos, in general, was extremely fascinating and there were a lot of really cool characters. However, I'm surprised at how many people are not aware of the once vibrant Blogosphere.

Some quick questions to any readers I attract: how many of you are aware of the Core Theory and the Sages? Anyone hear of Dreams In Darkness or Seeking Truth?

Exactly.

This was mostly all happening around 2010-11 with a few bloggers still kicking every now and again. Thage, Morningstar, Zero (alongside a handful of new bloggers that I haven't really had enough time read up on yet) are still attempting to keep the Mythos alive... sorta. They're trying- well, Zero's trying. I think Thage and Morningstar are pretty much down for the count now.

Anyway, yeah. That's basically what this blog is all about! A place for me to rant about the glory days of the Mythos and hopefully get some readers along the way. I don't really plan to make this blog anything spectacular (plus I really like the simple layout).

I'm sorry that my first post is so short! I've got work in about an hour and then class in the morn' so I've gotta get ready. Will definitely update in a few days or so!

Take care,
🌹

lol This blog has been neglected, and that's not my fault.

Well, okay. Yes it is. But that's mainly because I had nothing to talk about (and school and work). Today, however I do.  I am not going...
